HatH - Guest post and giveaway from author Rebecca Zanetti

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I love the Halloween season. We still have the vibrant autumn leaves, but all of a sudden, they’re covered with mist and starting to fall. The nights are longer, the days shorter, and something howls around midnight. Do you see why I write paranormals? :-)

Growing up, we had a haunted house nearby in the forest. Well, it was more like an abandoned lake cabin…but I’m sure it was haunted. It had a red clay tennis court that was great to ride and slide bikes on just after a rainstorm. The attic of the house was wallpapered with old newspapers dating back to the 1950’s. We spent hours reading those yellowed papers—they were full of advertisements for snake oil and magical cures.

When we got older, we’d go into the house after dark. If we were upstairs, we’d hear footsteps below. If we stood in the first story…we’d hear weird creaks up in the attic. A chilly breeze would sweep through…cold but not really scary. There was never anything truly frightening that happened, but I always felt we weren’t alone there.

I don’t know who owned the cabin way back when, but one day new people bought the land and tore down the house. They found old…very old…bones buried just under the foundation.

Nobody has ever figured out whose bones they were. To this day, I’m not sure we were ever alone. But if somebody or something was there, they seemed friendly. Makes you wonder…doesn’t it?

I’m celebrating this month because Provoked, the fifth book in the Dark Protector series, releases on November 1st. Right now Provoked is only available in e-book form, but there should be a print book available within a few months. Here’s a quick blurb about Provoked:

A casualty of the war between the demons and the vampires, Jase Kayrs has been missing for six long years. His older brothers want answers—but they’re going to have to get them from an unlikely source. For when Kane Kayrs tracks down Amber Freebird, what he finds is a blonde, vegan pacifist who has no intention of using her skills in his war…

Amber enjoys her life of chaotic freedom and has no intention of falling in line just because a sexy-as-sin vampire insists on order. Unfortunately, he discovers she may be the only hope they have of finding his brother, and there’s no way he’s going to let her go—even if it means mating her to gain her cooperation. The two are as different as can be, yet when the dominant Kane and the untamed Amber finally unite to rescue Jase, they just may find that opposites really do attract…

To celebrate, I’d like to give away one copy of Fated, Book 1 in the series, to a commenter here. Have you ever seen a haunted house…or…do you believe in ghosts?

Happy Halloween, Ladies!!! Just had to visit and support a very fave author of mine...Her books are so incredibly told and her Kayrs brothers so Yummy....
Though I have never seen a ghost, I kinda believe in them....Just because we don't 'see' things, doesn't mean they don't exist, right? Who knows...there may really be vampires and werewoves out there somewhere..maybe even dragons!! :)

I was never in a real Haunted house just the pretend ones they set up a Halloween time.... My brother LOVES them and makes me go I close my eyes during them and hold onto the back of his shirt!
So I don't think I could handle a real haunted house ;) if some one with face paint on scared me I'm not sure what I would do if a real ghost came at me!

No I've never seen a haunted house(would probably freak out badly) but I do believe in the possibility of ghost. I don't believe the every time that you see something about ghosts that its true but I think there's too many unexplainable things out there for there not to possibly be ghosts.

I stayed in a hotel in New Orleans that was haunted. I was kinda freaked out about it, but I don't recall anything happening.

I have never seen a real haunted house. I am not sure that I believe in ghosts, but I don't NOT believe in them either. My oldest nephew used to "see" people that no one else could when he was about 2-3 yrs old. He was too young to be playing tricks on people.

I've been in various hotels that were supposed to be haunted but I never saw any ghosts. Still, I do believe in them. Just because we can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

I definitely believe in ghosts, even though I frequently try to convince myself I don't. =P My dad actually has had a few encounters with them and I believe him when he tells the stories. Really creepy to me but it doesn't bother him at all. I have a friend who lives in a haunted house and her ghost likes to knock books off her book shelf if she doesn't put them in the right order. (I'm actually getting shivers just thinking about it, ack!)

Ok on to less scary things...
Can't wait to read Provoked!! Putting it on my Kindle right now. Thanks for the great post Rebecca!!

I've seen a haunted house and I do believe in ghosts. After my husband's grandparents died, things in their house always moved on there own and there were strange noises and laughter and I also saw his grandpa looking out from the closet at me. I figure he wasn't happy I was sleeping in his bed.

Right after college I worked for a guy, and his wife swore their house was haunted. I never saw or heard anything but man was it spooky when she described the ghost. Yikes! I'm kind of undecided on ghosts. I think if anything I would believe there may be some type of life essence left from a person in some instances.

There was a house around the corner from where I grew up that was supposed to be haunted. But I never saw anything.

I've seen lots of pretend haunted houses, but never a real one. I don't really believe in ghosts, but I wouldn't mind having my mind changed by one. :D

My mom swore that the house we lived in when I was 4-7 was haunted. Lots of weird and unexplainable things did happen. So who knows...
