HatH - Guest post and giveaway from author Darynda Jones

We asked author Darynda Jones, if the characters from her Charley Davidson series dressed up for Halloween, what costumes would they wear? ....

OH FUN!!!! Here is how I picture my characters dressing up for Halloween as . . .

Uncle Bob would definitely have fun with his costume. I can totally see him as a pirate:

Cookie would naturally exhibit her usual lack of fashion sense while managing to look utterly adorable:

Garrett would be manly, partly because he’s a guy’s guy, but mostly because his insecurities would get the better of him:

Charley is a different story. She loves to play dress up and Halloween is definitely a time for her to shine. While she does like to go as the grim reaper occasionally, the joke is usually lost on everyone but those very close to her, so she likes to go as different characters. This year she can’t decide between a pirate herself . . .

. . .a zombie prom queen, because who hasn't wanted to be one of those? . . .

. . . and, considering the man in her life, a she-devil.

I’m thinking Reyes will enjoy that last one.

Now Reyes’s costume was quite a bit harder to come up with until I realized he would never go out in public in costume. Not really his style. However, he would most definitely dress up for the love of his life.

Think Charley will like it?

Yeah, me too.
:)

What is a must-see flick for you during Halloween? What tales make you shiver? A must for me is any really. I usually channel surf for the spooky movies that are playing 24/7 on tv during halloween. I used to like watching Ghost Hunters Live also but then I saw the South Park episode where they made fun of it and I can't be scared by those guys anymore.

Love that Zombie Prom Queen costume! It is just great :)

AquarianDancer said...

My Halloween tradition is Hocus Pocus. I mean, come on...a talking cat, a zombie and Bette Midler as a 300 year old evil witch. What's not to like?

I'm not much of a scary movie person. so from my younger days the original Halloween or Friday 13th. as long as I have a pillow handy to hide my eyes. scratchy tree limbs on the window can make me shiver and their shadows too.

Love the costumes specially Reyes ;)

I'm not much of a scary movie person, but at Halloween I love watching kiddy themed Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus and Halloween Town.
As for tales that make me shiver, almost any scary story has that effect, hence avoiding them, unless they are in the books I'm reading. For some reason, I don't mind it so much when I'm reading it.

Reyes wins best costume, and I think Charley would be best in that awesome pirate outfit!

Xander Lawson said...

I've seen more than my share of scary movies over the years, but check it out - Reyes' costume is downright the creepiest. I'd rather deal with zombies or vampires any day than someone in those clothes.
