HatH - Guest post and giveaway from author Carolyn Crane

Hi everybody! And thank you so much to Paranormal Haven for having me here at the big Halloween bash!!

I love dressing my characters in all sorts of stuff. It’s one of the secret pleasures of being an author. Which is why you’ll often find dress-up occasions in my books, ideally requiring gowns. I don’t have one of those events in MR. REAL, but my spy guy does wear a tux one night. But what would MR. REAL characters wear for Halloween, you ask?

Mr. Real in a nutshell
Alix is a free-spirited woman who uses an occult computer program to bring a sexy spy from a TV ad to life (Sir Kendall). The actor/fighter (Paul) who plays the character - and has come to hate him – is NOT amused.

Why Alix would go for the super wild and sexy witch costume

1. She needs an occasion to bust loose!!
Okay, Alix is working on being a more serious type of woman, trying to live down her whole wild girl reputation. (And not doing an excellent job of it. Bringing a TV ad spy to life was not her best moment. Okay, she was drunk at the time, but that’s no excuse! ) But she’s trying. so hard. Halloween would be a chance to look outrageous.

2. To honor her late aunt, a real witch.
Alix’s aunt left her an entire house in rural Minnesota and when Alix moved there, she found out everybody in town hated her aunt, thinking she was a witch. (Which, as it turns out, she was.) Alix is fiercely loyal to her aunt, though, and would dress like a witch just to honor her and stick it to the townspeople.

Why Paul the fighter/actor would dress as a mummy on Halloween: 2 reasons…

1. Paul often has a beaten-up face.
There aren’t actually any MMA fights in Mr. Real, but…well, there are fights. And the hero, Paul, always seems to have at least a black eye. How convenient to just wrap himself entirely in ripped up sheets and linens.

2. A raggedy mummy outfit is the furthest thing he can think of from a Sir Kendall tuxedo
The last thing on earth Paul would EVER want is to do is to dress like Sir Kendall, that is, in a tux. Sir Kendall is a character with roots in Paul’s horrible childhood—bringing him to life to land a part in a commercial was the stupidest thing Paul ever did. He will never play him again. Thank goodness Sir Kendall doesn’t really exist. (gulp. see above.)

Why Sir Kendall the spy would dress as Paul the fighter

1. To impersonate Paul.
Sir Kendall knows Paul and Alix are keeping some kind of secret from him. What aren’t they telling him? Halloween would be a great opportunity to dress like his brutish doppelganger and get some answers from Alix. Because something really mysterious is happening in that house.

2. Good excuse to work on his American accent.
As a super spy, Sir Kendall can do all accents and has super knowledge of everything. But a fellow can always use a bit of practice, right?

MR. REAL

Synopsis:

The girl of his dreams…with the secret agent of his nightmares

Alix Gordon is a woman who doesn’t take life too seriously. What’s the fun in that? So when she stumbles across occult software that can bring any computer image to life, she conjures up lots of awesome outfits and accessories. And then, on one drunken, horny night, she conjures up Sir Kendall, the sexy TV ad spy . . . who looks exactly like Paul Reinhardt, the super-sexy martial arts teacher who kicked her out of class a few years ago.

Fighter Paul Reinhardt has good reason to hate Sir Kendall, the character he brought to life to land a part in a TV ad; he’d do anything to forget him. A cross country road trip seems just the thing . . . until Paul finds himself inexplicably drawn to Minnesota and is shocked to discover Sir Kendall – in the flesh – with the girl he’d once loved from afar. He barges into Alix and Sir Kendall’s love nest, determined to stop the madness – somehow.

But is super spy Sir Kendall transforming into something more dangerous anyone can imagine? And what will Sir Kendall do when Paul and Alix finally give into their mad lust for each other?

Available October 30th. For more visit Carolyn's website.

Which character? Oh I donno. Too many to mention. Oh maybe Barrons. It would be so interesting to see what he would come up with for that time. LOL

I love it that you had Alix "stick it to the townspeople" and dress up as a witch. LOL Sounds like something I'd do...

I'd bring Sookie Stackhouse to life because I think she's a great person and has such interesting adventures.

That is a toughie, I mean I would love to have either JZB, Tegan or Acheron face to face at any time. Those characters were so alpha male they peeled paint from the walls. I have others, because I really hate to choose, but I'd start with those three for sure. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com

Definitely JZB from the Fever series!

Looking forward to Mr Real but I would probably choose Adam from Patricia Brigg's Mercedes Thompson series.

He's a real manly man who isn't afraid to show his smushie side and he's oh sooo hot!

And spankable ;-)
