HatH - Guest post and giveaway from author Laura Kaye

Owen and Ella’s Top 10 Trick-or-Treat Sweets

Halloween brings to mind ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night. Spooky movies and scary costumes. And hay rides and haunted houses. But it also makes me think of trick-or-treating, and that means CANDY! So, today, I thought I’d bring in two of my characters with the biggest sweet tooths to give their expert opinions about the Top 10 treats they’d most want to see while trick-or-treating this year.

Both of our guests today are characters from my Greek-mythology-inspired Hearts of the Anemoi series: Owen Winters is the snow god hero of North of Need, renowned for his legendary sweet tooth, especially where ice cream is concerned. But he’s partial to sweets of the non-frozen variety as well. Ella Raines is the mortal heroine of West of Want, known everywhere for her addiction to M and Ms, particularly green ones, which she insists taste the best! And don’t even get us started on her sweet treat junk food stash…

Here’s what each of them believe are the Top 10 must-give-out treats this Halloween:

Okay, Owen, what do you think are the best trick-or-treat candies?:

10) ChupaChups Ice Cream Flavored Lollipops [ice cream flavors to suck on – what more could you want?]
9) Marshmallow Ice Cream Cones [because they look like ice cream…]
8)Nonpareils [because, with their candy sprinkles, they’re as much fun as ice cream]
7) Candy Corn [okay, not ice cream-ish, so not top 5, but it is Halloween, after all]
6)Hershey’s Cookie-n-Cream Drops [because they taste like cookies-n-cream ice cream]
5)Jelly Belly Ice Cream Jelly Beans [flavors inspired by Cold Stone Creamery – what more could you ask for?]
4) Godiva Milk Chocolate Ice Cream Cones [Godiva in the shape of an ice cream cone!]
3)Junior Mints [because they taste like mint chocolate chip ice cream]
2)Dippin’ Dots [non-meltable ice cream people!]
1)Snickers [because frozen they are divine]

Wow, that’s quite an impressive list of ice-cream-related candies, Owen! Okay, let’s see what Ella has to say:

10)Candy corn [you can’t have Halloween without them!]
9) Reese’s peanut butter cups [both the miniatures and the regular size – so good!]
8) Hershey’s kisses [they’re chocolate kisses!]
7) Hershey’s miniatures [especially the Hershey bar and Krackel!]
6)Pretzel M and Ms [salty and sweet – yum!]
5)Mini M and Ms
4)Mixed color peanut M and Ms
3) Mixed color plain M and Ms
2) Green peanut M and Ms [green nuts – ha!]
1) Green plain M and Ms [they really do taste the best!]

Wow! How many types of M and Ms are there?

Well, there you have it! 2012’s top trick-or-treat candy choices from two of the world’s biggest sweet tooths! LOL

Now, Owen and Ella want to know, what are your favorite candies to eat at Halloween (or any time!)

Thanks for reading! And don’t miss my October 20 release, One Night with a Hero, which has an absolutely hilarious Halloween scene in it!

About West of Want:

Betrayal is all he's ever known, but in her, he'll find a love strong enough to be trusted...

When Marcella Raines' twin brother dies, she honors his request to be buried at sea, never expecting the violent storm that swamps her boat. Though she's gravely injured--and still emotionally damaged from her recent divorce--Ella fights to survive.

ZephyrosMartius is the Supreme God of the West Wind and Spring, but being the strongest Anemoi hasn't protected him from betrayal and loss. Worse, he's sure his brother Eurus is behind it. When Zeph's heartbreak whips up a storm that shipwrecks a human, his guilt forces him to save her.

Ella is drawn to the vulnerability Zeph hides beneath his otherworldly masculinity and ancient blue eyes. And her honesty, empathy, and unique, calming influence leave Zeph wanting...everything. When Eurus threatens Ella, she and Zeph struggle to let go of the past, defend their future, and embrace what they most want--a love that can be trusted.
