With only the brief memory of becoming a vampire, Lucy Weston stumbles across the infamous novel Dracula, by Bram Stokers. Determined to find out who transformed her she travels to London and joins with a few unlikely allies to help find her maker, in hope to set rights to the vampire and human world.

This book set in a steam punk era but I felt there wasn't much in the way of what I believe steam punk is, it seemed just more of just the plain Victorian era. Either way the time and era is always exciting. Everyone is so proper. They dress, talk and act so regally it’s always a fun era to read.

The book has a unique combination of history, with the most famous vampire book around with a few biblical references also. The plot line of this story is amazingly different. Who would have ever conceived combining Dracula, Bram Stoker (in person), King Arthur, and a collage of different supernatural beings.

I felt the overall story was a bit slow moving at times. I think the fact that I have never read Dracula (yes I know I should be burned at the stake) makes it so I am missing out on some of the important references.

There is a small love story, I would have liked a bit more romance and a HEA, I think it will continue in the next installment, so hopefully there we will get a bit more closer.

Overall I think the story is unique and well put other. I just think my lack of knowledge of events and Dracula references prevented me from fully enjoying the book. I think I would like to read the next one and see. I think now that all the background and world building has been set the next book should move much smother.

I really like this book but I confess I didn't expect that at all. I haven't read Dracula either but I know some things and I expected more Dracula references and not this other myth. But well I think it was a really interesting idea. Thanks for the review!

Awesome review. As long as the overall book is good I don't mind if it's slow sometimes.

Nice review, and don't feel bad, I never have wanted to read the original Dracula either.

Thanks for your honest review. Dracula and King Author? That is a bit of a stretch- but I would give it a try.
