Feature and Giveaway: The Taker by Alma Katsu

The Taker
Author:  Alma Katsu
Series:  Taker Trilogy, book 1
Publisher:  Gallery Books

On the midnight shift at a hospital in rural St. Andrew, Maine, Dr. Luke Findley is expecting a quiet evening. Until a mysterious woman arrives in his ER, escorted by police—Lanore McIlvrae is a murder suspect—and Luke is inexplicably drawn to her. As Lanny tells him her story, an impassioned account of love and betrayal that transcends time and mortality, she changes his life forever. . . . At the turn of the nineteenth century, when St. Andrew was a Puritan settlement, Lanny was consumed as a child by her love for the son of the town’s founder, and she will do anything to be with him forever. But the price she pays is steep—an immortal bond that chains her to a terrible fate for eternity.

I've actually already read this book, but it is by far one of the most memorable reads. The love and hurt that Lanore endures is heartbreaking, almost to the point of inflicting real, physical pain. At times I wanted to put it down, but couldn't because I was too wrapped up in the plot.

I'm curious. I was able to give this book away, but not review it. I have to admit, the cover draws me in more than the synopsis. :)

The love story sounds so forbidden and I like the elements of immortality and paranormal and historical twists to it.

Hi everyone, Thanks for reading about the book and I hope you'll get a chance to read The Taker soon. It seems to have connected with a lot of readers. It's been released in Spain, Poland and Italy too and the response there has been phenomenal. I even got to go to Italy for the release! Please look for The Reckoning when it comes out in stores on June 19th and again, thank you for your interest.
