After another battle Merrick just wanted to find rest at the adytum. He knew that Mikhail summoned him to return with his brothers; but he could not, he maybe had three or four fights left in him before the darkness takes him. He must fulfill his oath to put his cousin to rest from the monster the darkness has made him become.

Upon reaching the adytum he found a sensuous fiery woman in the place of the guardian that normally tended to the house. At first he assumed her a demon but upon seeing the serpents’ markings on her jewelry he knew she should be brought to Mikhail. Knowing she would not come willingly so he threw her over his shoulder and took her. With her body banging against his and the feel of her pressed to him with his hand on her legs he felt his body stir in ways it hadn't in centuries.

Anne just wanted to get moved into her new place when the actual man she just had a vision of came barreling into her home accusing her of being a demon. Then took her away to a man who claimed to be an angel, and told her she is fated to be the mate of one of the Knights. Mikhail told Merrick he was to look after her until they found her intended. She knew she should be afraid but the fact he knew this man just may have the answers she seeks about the Templar knights she decides not to protest too much, now if she could only quit with the indecent thoughts about the arrogant man who has done nothing but insult her.

Merrick and Anne make a very unlikely couple, they do not hit it off well, but Omg the heat they create is blazing. Merrick is sexy and all alpha male. I love the arrogance and possessiveness he has over a woman who is not his to possess.

Anne is head strong and stubborn but has a heart of gold. She is sweet and trusting even when she should not be. The two of them are explosive together. The whole story is very heartwarming. I love the way they fall in love. Not to mention there is an excellent background story. There are so many knights you can't help but fall for them all and hope that they will get a book next so they may find the one who can repair the darkness in their soul.

I loved this book. There was a few times I got a little more history than I needed but overall the love story was great and the characters are addictive. I am very excited to know when we might have another in this series.
